Watteco, a French startup providing PLC solutions, will undertake the American market.
Watteco, a new French company has launched itself into the smart grid market and more specifically in the market of energy management. The company has developped a chip, Watt Pulse Communication, based on Powerline Communication technology (PLC). Thanks to this technology, the French startup provides a solution which allows sending of information through copper cables used for the electric network. The advantage of this type of communication is that it offers a solution to range limitations and to problems of autonomy linked to wireless communications. Thanks to registered patents, Watteco is currently the only one on the market to offer a low power chip based on the CPL (using approximately 100 times less energy than the traditional CPL usage). Low power is the determining factor in limiting the size of supply to the chip. In this manner Watteco has succeeded in producing a complete modem whose size is approximately comparable to a sugar cube, much smaller than the standard size which is closer to a large box of matches.
