EnergyHub®, a leading home energy management systems provider, announced that David Brewster has joined its board of directors. Brewster currently serves as President of EnerNOC, which provides demand response, energy efficiency, energy procurement, and carbon management solutions to commercial and industrial customers. “We’re thrilled to have David join our board,” said Seth Frader-Thompson, CEO of EnergyHub. “His experience building what has become the world’s leading demand response provider will be invaluable as we expand EnergyHub’s reach with utilities and directly to homeowners,” he said.
Brewster has been growing EnerNOC since co-founding the company in 2001. His work shaping the demand response marketplace has led to a new approach for overcoming grid capacity constraints. Currently, he oversees the company’s regulatory affairs and international development efforts. “EnergyHub has built smart, simple tools to deliver demand response and energy efficiency in the residential market,” Brewster said. “I’m excited to be working with the strong, entrepreneurial team at EnergyHub to provide the best possible energy saving experience to homeowners while continuing to leverage the power of data and systems to strengthen the relationship between consumers and utilities,” he said.
The EnergyHub system allows homeowners to manage and monitor their energy use, and to take advantage of opportunities to save energy. It also features a highly controllable demand response system that utilities have successfully used to lower the strain on the grid. A simple, user-centered interface makes it easy for users to save money and participate in energy-saving programs, while maintaining full control of their home energy use.
Centered around a dashboard, the EnergyHub system can connect to smart meters to provide customers with information on their whole home energy use. The dashboard also controls thermostats in the home, allowing consumers to easily schedule heating and cooling setpoints. Smart Sockets and Strips work together to provide additional appliance-level monitoring and control. The system offers one-click control of temperature and appliances with three simple modes that are based on the way people actually use energy: home, away, and goodnight. Web applications and a mobile app allows users to take control and demand response participation options with them on the go.
