With the unfolding of a smart grid the operators are currently interested in new models of pricing that have become available thanks in part to new infrastructures. Among them the:”Time of Use” and “Net Metering”. “Time of use” is a model defining pricing in advance depending on different periods of the year and based on prior estimations of electric demand. Typically the consumer can get the rates on the internet, therefore allowing him to adapt his demand. The pricing grid is updated twice a year. “Net Metering” is a model in favor of renewable energy giving the possibility to equipped consumers of such production capability that they can resell their electricity to the operators. The price of repurchasing electricity is based on the model “Time of use”, however if the consumer produces a surplus of energy in relation to his usage the operator does not reimburse the difference.
