Baltimore Gas and Electric (BGE) says it is working with Accenture and Oracle to implement a smart meter network for 1.2 million customers. Accenture will provide systems-integration services, including the design, development and management of a customer Web portal and advanced metering infrastructure, as well as integration related to BGE's existing platforms. BGE currently uses Oracle's outage management system and will now implement the vendor's meter data management system. BGE says its network will help manage and analyze high volumes of meter data more effectively while providing customers with detailed energy-usage data, which is expected to result in decreased peak energy consumption and electric bills. |
