GE says it is working with U.K.-based electricity distributor Central Networks on a project proposal, the Milton Keynes MKSmart2020 initiative, that will focus on the deployment of smart grid technology. "We're proposing a holistic transformation that upgrades basic infrastructure to state-of-the-art energy management systems," comments Keith Redfearn, general manager of GE Energy Services' Digital Energy operations in northern Europe. The companies note that the proposal has been submitted to U.K. energy regulator Ofgem. If the Milton Keynes proposal is accepted, the project could begin in early 2011. SOURCE: GE |
